All these Activities and Organizations of have helped me grow as a person. Without these opportunities that were given to me, I would surely not be anywhere close to being as skilled or diverse as I am today. With them I know that I must continue and grow if I wish to be anywhere close to who I can be someday.
Volunteer work
Volunteer work is very important to me, and it is why I have given over 600 hours and counting to school and community organizations.
City wide volunteer work, such as the Teen Council, gives me an opportunity to speak with other members of the City Council and find out what we can do to help residents of our city, from after school dances and community fairs making our city more enjoyable, to creating and publicizing organizations to give students a place to go after school, keeping them out of trouble while they learn how to cook or dance.
School wide volunteer work, such as the Quad Reformation Committee, allows me to learn more about how a school runs and what regulations it must uphold, while creating a more appealing quad and shade structure for the students of my schools future.
Other school wide organizations, such as The Verdict (School Newspaper) help me grow as an individual while I learn time management, how to cooperate with others, and how to stay up really late and keep your drive through the hard times.
Athletic Volunteer opportunities, such as coaching for our cities youth football league and football camp, has taught me how to work with those that need special attention and those that need little at the same time, so that all can learn and grow together. It has also taught me how to share knowledge with those looking to obtain it, giving me the reverse look of my normal experience.
Through all of my learning experiences I feel that I have grown more from it then those I was supposed to serve, and I will continue to help these organizations in the future, and intern I will grow even more as an individual.
Leadership Abilities
Leadership abilities I have obtained throughout the years have greatly helped my abilities to help others. From my leadership positions I have become more amiable of others and I am able to read people and am better able to separate what they say from what they actually mean, and what they will actually do. It is important to understand people behind the cover, and be able to truly read between the lines of their speech and actions.
Being President of organizations, such as my schools Student Government and Class Cabinet, as well as of clubs such as the School Newspaper, Youth Action Committee, and Quad Reformation Committee has helped me become more of a well rounded leader and able to work with different groups of people.
Being a leader on my football and basketball team has also helped with me becoming a dynamic leader, as well as teaching me that we must work as a group to achieve greatness.
City organization opportunities, such as the Moorpark Unified School Board and Moorpark Unified School Council has given me the ability to understand my role in my chain in command, and be able to represent my fellow students while talking to my principle and Moorpark Unified officials on a one to one basis for in search of a common goal.
Although I have learned a lot throughout all of my leadership opportunities and have learned many helpful abilities and characteristics, by far the most important I have learned is humility.
